Adowa

The adowa is relatively unknown outside of western Africa, where it originated. This unqiue peg-tension drum has a mellow, conga-like sound, and is incredibly responsive to its player. A definite conversation starter anywhere it is played, this gorgeous drum will be a welcome addition to any drum circle or percussion group. The adowa and kpanlogo are normally played together because of their complementary acoustics. All Irie Tones adowas are covered by our warranty, and feature:

• individual inspection and testing - we won't sell it if it doesn't sound good
• solid one-piece construction using Masonia, a legally harvested tropical drum wood
• natural look, treated with at least 3 coats of coconut oil, to hydrate wood and beautify wood
• new cow skin, closely lye-shaved to eliminate uncomfortable stubble and improve sound
• basic playing and care instructions, and a brief history of the kpanlogo
• bottom rim and bearing edge coated with wax to protect and seal the wood
