Professional Djembe 14X25 DK96
Handsome piece of Iroko from Ivory Coast with exaggerated features; wide bowl and throat and flared base. This djembe has great projection with deep, solid tones and semi-wet response - very satisfying to play. Along with a money back guarantee, here is what this professional djembe features:
- 14" OSD wood, 25" full height, 10" OSD base, 15 lbs
- Dark, evenly colored Iroko wood, solid one piece construction, uniform thickness, imported direct
- Wood seasoned and handcarved in Ivory Coast, West Africa, hydrated with lots of karite (shea butter)
- Medium thick goat skin from West Africa, wet shaved and hydrated with a bit of shea butter
- 5mm burgundy mix low-stretch drum rope for the 32 pairs of vertical ropes, first row of tuning started
- 4mm black drum rope for top loops and bottom loops, single hitch loop pattern on bottom ring
- Cotton cloth used to wrap bottom and top rings, including flesh hoop to prevent rust damage to skin
- Rope handle installed underneath the verticals gives you a place to attach your strap
- Extra tuning rope included, wrapped around neck for storage
- All 1/4" rings custom fitted very tight, locking in the tension, with added security in the 4 ring system
- High durometer tan rubber pad permanently fixed to the bottom edge, for wood protection and playing comfort
- Professionally shaped bearing edge, curved and angled for maximum comfort and ease of sound
- Ledge for bottom ring adds stability and helps keep tension even when tuning
- Skin cut above top rings exposes colors of brown cloth, and adds an aesthetic element
- Beautiful deep carved design patterns cover the bottom 1/2 of base, with extra buldge at the neck
- This djembe will fit our Professional Djembe Case just barely - very tight fit may stress stitching at the base
- The pictures on the left are of the EXACT DRUM described above, not just an example; once purchased, we remove it from the website
This djembe shell was imported by Djembe Direct and custom built by Kaz Speirs for our drum workshop in Salt Lake City, UT. Kaz has built hundreds of djembes over many years, which are being played today by professional musicians all over the world.
