Professional Djembe 12X24 DK112
Cow skin on a slender dark Hare shell from Guinea. What difference does cow skin make? It makes the open tone sing a tuned note (think of the 'pitches' of congas or bongos), and makes the slaps more wet, while giving all the bass the djembe typically offers. Some master djembefolas are playing on cow skin djembes for the added volume and more audible tones they create (coupled with impeccable technique, of course). For the djembe collector, or the cross-over conga/djembe drummers, a cow skin djembe is going to eventually end up in the lineup. This is a fine example to consider. Along with a money back guarantee, here is what this professional djembe features:
- 12" OSD wood, 24.25" full height, 10" OSD base, 17 lbs
- Striking dark Hare (khadi, beng, hari) hardwood, solid one piece construction, uniform thickness, imported direct
- Wood seasoned and handcarved in Guinea, West Africa, treated inside with shea butter and sealed outside
- Medium thick cow skin from West Africa, wet shaved and hydrated with a bit of shea butter
- 5mm black low-stretch drum rope for the 34 pairs of vertical ropes, first row of tuning started
- 3-4mm black drum rope for top loops and bottom loops, single hitch loop pattern on bottom ring
- Cotton cloth used to wrap bottom and top rings, including flesh hoop to prevent rust damage to skin
- Rope handle installed underneath the verticals gives you a place to attach your strap
- Extra tuning rope included, wrapped around neck for storage
- All 1/4" rings custom fitted very tight, locking in the tension
- High durometer black rubber pad permanently fixed around the bottom edge, for wood protection and playing comfort
- Professionally shaped bearing edge, curved and angled for maximum comfort and ease of sound
- Cow skin cut to expose top rings, adding an aesthetic element
- Simple and elegant deep carved design patterns cover full height of the base
- This djembe will fit our Professional Djembe Case offering the best protection for your investment
