Bougarabou

The bougarabou is a conical drum similar to the djembe, originating in West Africa. Our authentic bougarabous are hand-carved by village drum makers in Ghana. They are designed to produce clear, full sounds and look absolutely beautiful - a perfect addition to any drum circle or percussion group. Irie Tones bougarabous are backed up by our warranty, and feature:

• individual inspection and testing - we won't sell it if it doesn't sound good
• solid one-piece construction using Masonia, a legally harvested tropical drum wood
• new, extra-strong synthetic rope, extra tuning rope included
• base and crown rings wrapped with cloth for long rope life
• new cow skin, closely dry-shaved to eliminate uncomfortable stubble
• basic playing and care instructions, and a brief history of the bougarabou
• deep-carved geometric designs on the base and neck
• natural look, treated with at least 3 coats of coconut oil to hydrate and beautify wood
• bottom rim and bearing edge coated with wax to protect and seal the wood
